This elegant Pichwai painting celebrates the sacred cow, a symbol of purity, abundance, and nurturing in Indian tradition. Inspired by the temple art of Rajasthan, the cow—evoking Kamadhenu, the celestial wish-fulfilling being—stands adorned with red palm prints and golden ornaments, her serene gaze reflecting maternal grace. A calf lovingly looks up at her, sharing the same decorative elements.
More than decorative, this artwork invites peace, prosperity, and a deeper connection to tradition and spiritual heritage.

Meet Bhawani Shankar, a master artist who began his journey as a miniature artist before transitioning to Pichwai art in his early years. Initially crafting brushes from squirrel hair, he now uses synthetic ones due to bans. His first painting, sold for 2 rupees in the fifth grade, marked the start of his artistic path. He continues to create masterpieces that honor the past and captivate the present. His work includes the breathtaking Gopasthami painting, featuring Shrinath Ji surrounded by cows, and 24 swaroops that celebrate seasonal events and festivals like Janamasthami and Ekadashi.
